I appeared on MS NOW with Stephanie Ruhle this morning to discuss the latest business news. As always, I focused on the effects these developments would have on America’s working families. And that’s why Stephanie invites me on her show.
We began with a discussion of President Trump’s announcement that he would impose 50% tariffs on Canadian goods. I expressed surprise at the President’s lack of concern that affordability is the very top issue for America’s working families and how the tariffs are likely to make a bad situation worse.
We also discuss the Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery merger, which has been enjoined by a U.S. District Court judge’s preliminary injunction. I am following the lead of Hollywood’s unions which, with the Writers Guild of America West in the lead, vigorously oppose the merger. If competition is the heart of capitalism, these kinds of huge mergers are bad for workers, consumers, and the economy.
